Universal Children’s Day
The United Nations’ (UN) Universal Children’s Day was established in 1954 to promote international togetherness, raise awareness among children worldwide and improve children’s welfare. This special day is celebrated on the 20th November every year.
Establishing good tooth cleaning in childhood will help to prevent tooth decay and gum disease in the future. As part of this year’s Gum Health Awareness Day campaign, the BSP focused on raising awareness of the importance of gum health in childhood.
Our campaign ‘A lifetime of smiling’ reinforced the message that it is never too early to develop good oral health habits.
We have produced a range of educational materials that are available on our website as pdf downloads: https://www.bsperio.org.uk/patients/gumhealthday2018/index.html
We will also continue to distribute the printed versions at the various conferences and events attended by the BSP during the year. The infographics are designed for children, parents and carers, dental professionals and healthcare professionals.
