The Jaccard/EFP Prize for Periodontal Research UPDATED call

The EFP has advised that the submission process for the Jaccard Prize has been modified and the information below replaces the previous information issued on September 21st.

The Jaccard/EFP Research Prize in Periodontology was instituted by the European Federation of Periodontology (EFP) and the Jaccard Foundation (University of Geneva) in 1995 with the object of promoting research in Europe.

The Prize is awarded once every three years at the EuroPerio Conference. It is open to all members of the Periodontal Societies, which are part of the European Federation of Periodontology.

Submissions:

The research work must not be previously published. The manuscripts should be prepared according to the principles presented in “Instructions to Authors” in the Journal of Clinical Periodontology (JCP), as the best three entries will be published in this Journal.

Candidates should submit their manuscripts to the Journal of Clinical Periodontology on-line by December 30, 2021. They should highlight in the “Cover Letter” and the first page of the manuscript - that this is a submission for the Jaccard-EFP award. In parallel, they should send an email to EFP European Coordinator at the EFP office (monica@efp.org) that the manuscript had been submitted to JCP, with the email from JCP that approved successful submission. Only accepted articles will enter the final competition.

Process:

A panel of 5 adjudicators, consisting of the Editor in Chief of JCP (chair), two Associate Editors of the same Journal, one member selected by the Executive Committee of the EFP and one member of the EuroPerio organising Committee, will select 3 manuscripts for the final competition, which will be published in the Journal of Clinical Periodontology as “Jaccard-EFP Prize Awardee”.

The Organising Committee will inform the three nominees of this prize (first author or corresponding author who must present the paper) and will invite them to EuroPerio Conference.

Travel expenses up to 500 Euros will be paid for the invited candidates by the EFP as well as EuroPerio registration fees.

Each research worker will present his/her work as an oral presentation of 20 minutes duration, followed by a 10 minutes discussion period. The winner will be selected on the merits of the submitted manuscript, as well as on the oral presentation and subsequent discussion period.

The winner of the first prize will receive a prize of CHF 10.000, together with a Certificate.

The winner of the second prize will receive CHF 6.000.

The winner of the 3rd prize will receive CHF 4.000.
