New GDC Chair and Council member welcomed
The GDC Council has welcomed its two newest members today.
Angie Heilmann MBE joins as a registrant member and Lord Toby Harris takes up his position as Chair of the GDC from 1 October 2021. As previously announced, both bring considerable experience to their respective roles and have been appointed following an open and competitive recruitment process completed earlier this year.
Our new Chair will be investing time to understand your views and explore current issues. Toby is particularly keen to hear about your goals for regulatory reform, and how we can work together to ensure the future framework is effectively shaped to deliver public protection and confidence in a way that is flexible, fair and proportionate.
Our Council is collectively responsible for deciding policy, setting strategic direction, scrutinising organisational progress, and approving key organisational reforms. These early discussions are an opportunity to discuss common aims and interests, and will provide essential context for our Council, who continue to operate in a complex and uncertain environment.
Toby has shared his initial thoughts as he takes up the position of GDC Chair. Moving forward we are keen to engage and hear from you, as we emerge from the pandemic and look towards the opportunities presented by reform.
