GDC kicks off search for new Chair and Council Members
Colin Mackenzie, GDC Head of Nations and Engagement, has advised that the GDC has launched its recruitment campaign for a new Chair of Council.
As a dental leader, I am writing to you to advise that the GDC has just launched its recruitment campaign for a new Chair of Council, following the announcement late last year that Lord Harris will be demitting, when his four-year cycle comes to an end in September.
I wanted to remind you all that the position of Chair of Council will be open to both lay and registrant applicants, and I would encourage you to share this opportunity with colleagues across the profession who may have the required skills and experience for this important role.
The Chair will lead the Council in shaping the GDCs strategic vision to provide robust scrutiny of operations to protect public safety and confidence in dental services. We are looking for candidates who will bring significant non-executive board-level experience, can demonstrate a proven ability to lead through change, and have exceptional stakeholder management skills, and a desire to work collaboratively across the four nations of the UK to build trust with stakeholders. In addition, a background in the public or regulatory sector, combined with strategic thinking, strong governance credentials, and a commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion and good governance will be essential in this pivotal leadership role.
In addition to the Chair’s recruitment, we are also recruiting for two lay Council members, and I would encourage you to also share these opportunities with any non-registrant colleagues who may be interested.
The application window for all these roles will remain open until 24 February, and further information, including how to apply can be found on our recruitment partners, Saxton Bampfylde’s website:
