Congratulations on your retirement – Dr Phil Ower!

The BSP Council would like to congratulate Dr Phil Ower on his retirement.

Most of you will know of Phil and his incredible commitment to the BSP and Perio education. Phil has served a number of terms on Council in official roles such as Honorary Editor and was President of the Society in 2016. He is also very well known for his unofficial role as “Conference photographer” and could regularly be seen snapping away, trying to get the best shots for Social Media and the BSP Newsletter.

Phil has had a varied career working in the RAF, where he met his great friend and former BSP President Graham Smart, lectured at the Eastman Dental Institute and worked in numerous Private Practices including Bernie Kieser’s clinic.  He travelled the UK running PerioCourses, taking perio training from London to Aberdeen, from Ipswich to Rhyl, his commitment to spread the perio message has been admirable. Phil retired from Clinical practice in December 2018 and had his last teaching commitment earlier this month.

We wish Phil and Ghilaine a long and happy retirement and we look forward to catching up with them both at BSP Conference dinner next year.
