A note from our President…

It has been lovely to welcome Spring this month and enjoy warmer weather and sunnier evenings. As a keen gardener, it’s rewarding to see the garden come back to life, as the plants start to grow and the flowers begin to bloom. Spring also makes my gorgeous retriever, Bertie, much happier as his walks last a lot longer whilst I top up my Vitamin D!

It was an honour to Chair my first official Council meeting this month. It was also my pleasure to welcome some new members to Council, who I am certain will make valuable contributions to the work of the Society; Dr William McLaughlin (Senior Vice-President), Professor Shauna Culshaw (President-Elect 2027) and Dr Chandni Shah (Chair of Early Career Group (ECG)).

I was pleased to hear that the new ECG Committee had also held their first meeting and are filled with enthusiasm and ready to continue the excellent work of their predecessors, who were led by Dr Devan Raindi.

The BSP / SRRDG Study Day took place last weekend and the initial feedback has been extremely positive. This has been a valuable collaboration between the two Societies, spearheaded by Devan Raindi (BSP) and Anurag Srinivas (Specialist Registrars in Restorative Dentistry Group). I wish to thank them both for their hard work and also express my gratitude to the speakers, Dr James Chesterman, Dr Peter Clarke and Dr Paul Baker.

We shall continue to keep you up to date on events via email, monthly newsletters, the website and our social media platforms. Please register for our upcoming webinars via the Events page and get the most out of your membership: https://www.bsperio.org.uk/events/bsp-event-calendar

Lastly, thank you to everyone who is supporting this year’s Conference and has already booked their ticket to attend The Oral Health Summit. It is exciting to see the bookings come in and I am looking forward to welcoming you all to Edinburgh in November.

I hope you all have a great month ahead and enjoy some sunshine at last!
