A note from our President ...

Finally, the warm weather looks like it might be arriving, after what seems like a very long, cold and wet Spring. As always, BSP continues to be very active whatever the weather, and we are working hard on the plans for the BSP Annual Conference to be held in Newcastle (9-11 October). As you make your plans for the summer don’t forget to register for the Conference, especially as the Early Bird deadline is 31 July.

This year we will also be developing our Strategic Plan for the next 5 years. Our current strategic plan was implemented in 2019 to run until 2024. It has served us well, but in the face of ongoing change across all sectors of healthcare, education and dentistry more widely, we now need to work to develop our strategy for the next few years. Council members will be meeting in July to work on this, and we aim to have the plan finalised ready for implementation commencing in 2025.

As you know, the BSP offers a wide range of prizes that you might consider applying for, many of them linked to the Annual Conference. These are great for developing your CV, or showcasing your expertise. The Early Career Group of the BSP has recently updated the criteria for the BSP Case Report prize, and we now offer up to two prizes per year, one for dentists and one for dental hygienists/dental therapists. With a prize of £250 plus a free year of BSP membership up for grabs, please consider submitting for this or any other of our prizes and awards.
