12.06.2005 NewsThe BSP represents most specialists and general dental practitioners with an interest in periodontology. Many of our members have either undergone specialist training or have been "grandfathered" onto specialist lists in one or more dental specialties. They work in all realms of primary and secondary dental care in conjunction with other dentists and PCDs. We have discussed the consultation documents and enclose replies on behalf of the BSP to your questions. The BSP strongly supports the maintenance of Specialist Lists. This initiative acts to ensure protection of the public and provides a structured programme for clinical professional development to specialist level. We therefore feel that it would be a retrograde step to eliminate or absorb monospecialty lists into Restorative Dentistry.
