As you can see below, the Society continues to work to promote and support periodontology and periodontal and oral health. Recently the Health Care Select Committee published online all the submissions related to it’s enquiry into UK Dentistry and it was interesting to look at the range of bodies that chose to respond. We are delighted to announce that Giles McCracken has been awarded a chair, his new appointment being Professor of Restorative Dentistry at Newcastle University. Giles is a Newcastle University graduate and has worked incredibly hard to achieve this prestigious honour.

BDIA Showcase 17-19 October 2019 Please find attached the schedule of presentations which will be taking place at the CDO Zone at the BDIA Showcase at the NEC in Birmingham. Most of the presentations carry CPD points. In addition to the issues addressed in detail at the CDO Zone, there will be the annual CDO Briefing each morning at 10am in the Innovation Theatre. If you are attending the Briefing on Thursday 17th October please ensure you have registered. There was a strong EFP presence at the Oral Health Research Congress held in Madrid last weekend, with presentations by various members of the federation’s executive committee.

It is with deep sadness that the British Society of Periodontology records the death of Dr Julius David Manson. Dr Philip Greene has kindly written an obituary.
