The Conference theme was Interdisciplinarity – and focused on how we could work together more effectively across periodontology, dentistry and medicine, to achieve the very best outcomes for our patients.
An exciting group of internationally renowned speakers shared their expertise, including dentists, medics, scientists, clinicians, dental hygienists and dental therapists. There was also a parallel session focusing on career development possibilities for DCPs, to explore career routes in addition to clinical practice.
There was a very high standard of entries for each category of award this year. The following prizes were judged and awarded at this year's BSP Conference in Newcastle:
The Conference was a great opportunity to catch up with old friends and make new friends. It was a pleasure to welcome members and non-members to our event where everyone is united by their passion for perio! We had some guests who travelled from as far as Ghana, India and Australia!
There is always a wonderful atmosphere at BSP Conference and our friendly members ensured that any newcomers felt part of the BSP family by the end.
BSP was extremely grateful to Acteon and Philips who kindly agreed to sponsor this year's BSP Conference and support us in delivering a fantastic educational event for our delegates.
A Trade Exhibition took place on 10 & 11 October 2024, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, providing an excellent opportunity for Conference delegates to speak to company representatives and explore their latest products and equipment.
The Early Career Group Committee organised a social event on the evening of Wednesday 9th October 2024, at Pitcher and Piano, Newcastle. Nestled in the heart of the city quayside, this uniquely crafted bar provided a sophisticated place to relax and unwind whilst enjoying great food.
The evening was a great success and a wonderful opportunity for members to meet, network and discover how friendly everyone is at BSP
The Conference Dinner was held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel on the evening of Thursday 9th October 2024. Guests enjoyed a private drinks, followed by a fantastic 3-course dinner.
The Conference theme was "Black, White & Bling, chosen by Prof Philip Preshaw as there are not many colours more important than black and white in Newcastle. And since we were in the home of Geordie Shore, guests embellished their outfits with their very best bling!
After dinner, we danced the night away to music performed by sensational Singer/Songwriter, Sam Dickinson, and his live band. A fantastic night was had by all!
