Registering instructions will be sent out on Wednesday 26 March 2025, as you need to register with Zoom (a quick and simple process).  After registering you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar on the evening.

Only the first 500 participants to log in on the evening will be able to participate in the live event.  

However, booked participants will be able to view the webinar after the event on the BSP website.  You will be notified when the recorded presentation is available for viewing.

1.5 hours CPD is offered to all delegates who have booked and viewed the webinar. Bookings must have been made through the BSP website, non-members will need their booking reference number to obtain CPD. Evaluation form and CPD certificates will be available after the event on the website.

  • To describe the association between orthodontic treatment and periodontal attachment levels

  • To illustrate the remit of orthodontics in addressing pathological tooth migration

  • To review the orthodontic management of thin periodontal phenotype

  • To understand the effect of vertical tooth movement on the gingival margins

Outcomes

  • Prediction of the impact of orthodontics on attachment levels and marginal bone levels

  • Coordination of combined management of pathological tooth migration

  • Plan combined orthodontic-periodontal care in the presence of malocclusion and thin phenotype

  • Prediction of gingival margins changes associated with orthodontic tooth movement

Biography

Professor Padhraig Fleming

Padhraig is Chair/Professor of Orthodontics at Trinity College Dublin and was formerly Professor, Consultant and Postgraduate Training Lead in Orthodontics at the Institute of Dentistry, Queen Mary University of London. He was awarded MSc. with Distinction in 2007, the Membership in Orthodontics and British Orthodontic Society Medal for clinical excellence in 2008 and a PhD in 2013. He is an Associate Editor of the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, British Dental Journal, Journal of Dentistry and Progress in Orthodontics and is on the editorial board of numerous other journals.

Padhraig has published over 200 peer-reviewed papers and received numerous research awards including the Helen E. Dewel Award from the AAO on three occasions and the Chapman Prize from the British Orthodontic Society. Padhraig has co-authored four successful orthodontic textbooks: ‘Clinical Cases in Orthodontics’, ‘Functional Appliances: Theory and Practice’, ‘Fixed Orthodontic Appliances: A practical guide’ and in 2023 ‘Graber’s ‘Orthodontics: Current Principles and Techniques.

Padhraig also works in private practice on a part-time basis.
