BSP UK Practice Guidelines for Treatment of Severe Periodontitis – Long Term Supportive Periodontal Care in a Patient with Severe Periodontitis

Only the first 500 participants to log in on the evening will be able to participate in the live event.  

However, booked participants will be able to view the webinar after the event on the BSP website.  You will be notified when the recorded presentation is available for viewing.

1.5 hours CPD is offered to all delegates who have booked and viewed the webinar. Bookings must have been made through the BSP website, non-members will need their booking reference number to obtain CPD. Evaluation form and CPD certificates will be available after the event on the website.

Aims

To describe the role of supportive periodontal care (SPC) in individuals with previously treated severe periodontitis (EFP stage IV periodontitis).

Objectives

  • Describe key components of SPC and explore how to customise this to meet individual patient needs

  • Discuss disease recurrence and tooth loss in patients with previously treated long-term SPC, and different methods of managing recurrence

  • Discuss oral health-related quality of life and long-term SPC

Outcomes

  • Understand SPC and its role in managing patients with severe periodontitis

  • Identify treatment options in managing disease recurrence in patients in long-term SPC

  • Understand how SPC might impact on oral health-related quality of life

Biography

Dr Natalie Leow

Dr. Natalie Leow is a Clinical Associate Professor in Periodontology at UCL Eastman Dental Institute and serves as the Programme Coordinator for the EFP-approved MClinDent in Periodontology.

She earned her undergraduate dental degree and completed a three-year postgraduate specialist training in Periodontology (MDSc) at the University of Sydney, Australia. She was later awarded an ITI scholarship, which enabled her to further her education at Harvard School of Dental Medicine in Boston, USA. Following this, she completed a PhD in Periodontology at University College London.

Dr. Leow is a Fellow in the specialist stream (Periodontology) of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons and a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, where she also serves as an examiner for the MPerio examination. Her research interests focus on the impact of periodontal therapies on patients' quality of life and engaging with seldom-heard individuals.
